Died May 19, 2021 after a stroke. Mrs. Berler was an avid gardener, whose yard won numerous neighborhood awards. She was a graduate of Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore and was the first woman and nurse to serve as chair of the board of Alexandria Hospital. She was a former president of the Alexandria League of Women Voters, and the first woman appointed to both the Alexandria Housing Authority and Virginia Housing Development Authority. She was born January 7, 1926 in Norfolk, Virginia. Her husband, Seymour Berler, died in 1991. She is survived by children, Anne of Myrtle Beach, SC, Joan of Alexandria, VA, and Daniel of Washington, DC, a sister, Edith Offenhartz of Canton, CT, and numerous nieces and nephews.
