Veteran Art Exhibit

Living Legends of Alexandria collaborated with The Art League on the Year of the Veteran Art Exhibit featuring artwork by servicemen and women.

The special exhibit came to Alexandria City Hall through The Art League’s IMPART (Injured Military Personnel Art) program, which partnered with the USO, Fort Belvoir, Combat Paper, and the Smithsonian Arts, Military + Healing program. The artwork featured comes from the arts programs and workshops run by those organizations. It includes paintings, sculptures, and more, including the paper and pulp art made by Combat Paper participants. At Combat Paper workshops, veterans use the fibers in clothing, including military uniforms, to make paper art.

Board members Joe Shumard, Bill Kehoe, Mary Anne Weber, and Nina Tisara attended the opening reception on Veterans Day. The exhibition will be on view through November 30.
