OPENING OF PORTRAITS OF LIVING LEGENDS OF ALEXANDRIA

An exhibit of Portraits of 2017’s Living Legends of Alexandria is on display in the Vola Lawson lobby of City Hall and visitors are welcomed to an opening reception on Tuesday, September 19 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Also being presented at that time will be a video featuring interviews with each of this year’s honored Legends. U-Street, The Musical

U-Street, the musical playwright, Jason Ellis, was recently recognized as part of the 2018 class of Alexandria Living Legends. He was nominated for his work as a social commentary playwright in the city and using the arts platform to serve low-income youth. Mr. Ellis currently serves as the Director of Resident and Community Services with the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority, and as the executive director for Momentum Collective Inc.  Though he moonlights as a playwright, his passion for serving…

Tisara Photographs at Avant Bard Theatre

Selected  photographs of worship in Alexandria's predominantly African American churches by Living Legends founder Nina Tisara will be displayed in lobby showcases during the production of “The Gospel at Colonus,” February 22 to March 25 at Avant Bard Theatre, 2700 S. Lang Street, Arlington. Tisara will take part in a casual "afterchat" on Saturday, March 17, 3:30 p.m.,  following  the show.

Living Legends founder Nina Tisara will be showing her mosaic art at the Mount Vernon Lee Chamber of Commerce office, 6821 Richmond Highway, April 18 – June 15. The exhibition, “Here, Now” features Tisara’s new nature-themed work. The public is invited to an opening reception, April 18, 5:30-7:30.
